{DIY} Outdoor chalkboard

Hello friends! Whilst I was gone last weekend with the ladies at the beach house I apparently inspired my husband to tackle one of my many honey-do list items, yeah! How nice it is to see it completed and the kids love it too! A big outdoor chalkboard! Super fun!

I think this will be so much for the kiddos this summer....and daddy too.

Ok, so here is how he did it. Start by using a piece of plywood for the hard surface and top with tempered hardboard for a nice smooth finish. We will see how this holds up, the chalkboard paint doesn't say indoor or outdoor, so does that mean it can be either???

What a great addition to the 'kid zone' in our backyard. Hmm, what is next? Do you have any fun ideas that would be fun to include in our outdoor 'kid zone'? Gotta keep these guys busy you know!?!?!

Crafty girls weekend at the beach house...sa-weeeeet!

Last weekend I got to go to my friend Laura's beach house for some girly time! We crafted, ate, drank and took in the sun, what more could we ask for? It was a lot of fun! We really lucked out on primo spring weather and made the most of it. We were completely ready to hunker down with typical dark rainy northwest weather conditions, but alas we were pleasantly surprised! We ate outside Friday night with some delicious mussels and clams, crusty rosemary bread for dunking and a yummy caesar salad. Oh, and some wine, perfecto!

And the sun says its goodbye on our first evening at the beach in Indianola, Wa.

Good morning sunshine! Oh, how we love you!

We have a busy day of doing whatever we want! How often does that happen? I worked on a patriotic wreath, you can see a peek here of the work in progress.

Laura worked on another fun duct tape bag creation.

And some pretty wine charms.

Hether was a very busy girl, check out this necklace she made! It's stunning!

All this work is making us hungry! Time for a snack! This appetizer was knock your socks off good!

Seriously easy too! Get those chips that are like little cups, fill with guacamole and shrimp that are tossed with olive oil, cumin, cayenne and chili powder. Delish!

OK, so here we are. We mighta had a few glasses of wine before this shot, I'm just sayin'!

This is also where my obsession with Gotye began, love that song!!

Oh, how the weekend came to an end so quickly! What a great time! Thanks Laura!

{DIY} Hanging bird bath

Hooray for the first day of spring! Never mind there is snow on the ground!

This DIY project is for the love of birds! A hanging bird bath is a sweet spot for the birds to take a dip and it looks pretty in the garden!

It couldn't be easier! One grapevine wreath already made from your local craft store and a terra cotta plant saucer. I used Natural jute to hang the bird bath.

There is snow on the ground and it is pushing 80 on the east coast! I am jealous!

At least the sun came out today and the birds are singing, spring is here!

{DIY} Painted Vases

You know all the clear vases you acquire over the years from those lovely flowers you recieve for gifts? You know the ones right? They are clear and really nothing too special, but you can't just throw them away. So, why not paint them and give them a personality and display them proudly!

For these creamy yellow beauties, I used leftover paint from other household projects. Here are my plain clear vases.

Simply pour paint from the can inside the vase and rotate around and around till you coat the whole thing and pour the rest into the next vase. Here comes the patience part, cuz the paint will keep coming and coming, but you want to get most of it out if you can. Repeat the process till you have all three complete and with the last one simply pour the paint back into the can.

Now where will they go?

I think they look nice here in my 'work in progress' dining room hutch.

Simple and pretty don't ya think? and the best party of all is that this little {DIY} project didn't cost me a cent! By the way, I would'nt reccomend putting water in these or really anything for that matter, just use them for a pretty diplay!

Before and After {DIY} Project Inspiration

I am feeling the need for some {DIY} inspiration! I need a project and I thought I would get a little help from Pinterest of course! So many ideas, which will I tackle first? Here are few ideas to get YOU inspired too!

I love the transformation of this old desk into this pretty green updated version.

These colorful chairs are so charming.

Wow, this stairwell looks so updated and fresh by removing the carpet and opening up the wall.

The original lamp wasn't terrible, but the new look is MUCH better! I love the lampshade!

By removing the busy work on the bottom cabinets and painting the hutch a bright white it looks brand new. Of course the window panes are a nice upgrade as well.

This pretty table is so cute with the geometric patten on top.

I thought the bedroom looked pretty good to begin with, but the transformation is stunning. Something about the dark walls that makes it look so rich and brings the outside view in.

The pallets turned bookshelves would be great in the playroom and certainly strong and sturdy to stand up to the wear and tear of rowdy kids.

This old and dated stool looks so updated and fresh now, the fabric is fun too.

I definitely have a bathroom I could do this to right now, maybe my next project??

Now, this is one ugly bench in the before, but look at it now!

Aah, the things one can do with spray paint. That is some magical stuff!

Nice new outdoor table from an old dated dark table, so easy to do.

Oh, Candace you can do NO wrong in my book!

Pretty up-do for these otherwise boring pair of chairs.

Another easy updated stool, anyone could do this right?

So many of us inherit these outdated pieces of furniture, they just need a little style makeover!

This wainscoting is beautiful, I think I might be doing this soon.

Another spray paint project, I love the POP of orange!

Sweet lamp with a makeover provided by spray paint and a new shade, nice!

Serious curb appeal upgrade here, what a little paint can do. Oh, and removing the dated screen door and nice addition of the potted urns helps too.

Ok, I think I am feeling inspired. I am going to go take a walk now, that is thru my house to see what I can transform! Oh, the possibilities!
